The Liberal Party and its leader, Peter Dutton, this week proved what I've been telling Australians - that Australia has become a one party nation and democracy is finished.
Peter Dutton has completely obliterated all hope of the Liberal Party being taken as a credible alternative party to form government after the upcoming Federal Election.

Re: [Australian Politics] Federal Election 2025
This is absolutely pathetic!
Labor election campaigns are always run around blatant lies, such as its trusty-old recycled "Mediscare" campaign, which has never had any merit whatsoever.
There's a reason Labor's failed misinformation legislation had exemptions for political campaign material, because it continues to run campaigns based on total lies which if were not exempted would have been caught on the misinformation legislative web.

Re: [Australian Politics] Federal Election 2025
While election polls always sway left and right by a couple of percentage points—providing enough excitement for political journalists and commentators to get worked up—the broader message is being missed.
That message is this: voters are unimpressed with both sides of politics, as neither side has offered anything meaningfully different from the other.
Both are effectively committed to maintaining the status quo of a debt-laden, high-interest-rate economy.
As we head into another Federal Election, we’re left with what is essentially a one-party contest and little in the way of substantive policy offerings on the table.

Re: [Australian Politics] Federal Election 2025
This is just more political thought bubbles on matters of unimportance that don't affect the everyday lives of Australians.
This is not a priority, and nobody other than Peter Dutton is thinking about this.
Dutton had a very narrow window of opportunity to make a real impact with voters and to put a political dent in the Labor Government.
However, he has absolutely blown this opportunity by continually changing his position on issues, floating policy thought bubbles on matters of unimportance, almost entirely abandoning his own nuclear energy policy since it was first introduced to the public, and all but dismissing any plans for substantial, impactful reform.
In my opinion, Peter Dutton is finished.

Re: [Australian Politics] Federal Election 2025
This election campaign has been riddled with misinformation from both sides, leaving many people feeling disillusioned and choosing to disengage, ignore the process, and move on with their lives.

Re: [Australian Politics] Federal Election 2025
I’m a millennial, and neither side of politics has particularly focused on my generation.
In fact, we’re the forgotten generation in terms of politics—run by a group of dinosaurs clinging to archaic, unfit ideologies.
Not a single party has bothered to campaign for people like me, people with my circumstances.
Democracy is a complete farce.
And they think compulsory voting is the solution?
Sorry, but I refuse to vote for these continued lies, which serve as the pillars of a flawed, fake political system designed solely to benefit the elite.

Re: [Australian Politics] Federal Election 2025
If confirmed, it will reduce the Party's presence in the Lower House to just one representative.
